The finish board

Finishes, stains and coatings

Paint is only the start. These are the specialty jobs we do inside and out, from one accent door to a whole garage floor.

  • Faux Finishing

Marble, wood or stone effects painted straight onto the wall, in place of wallpaper.

  • Antiquing

Glaze and light sanding that give new wood an aged, handled look.

  • Metal Finishes

Metallic paint for a sleek accent wall, a door or an office.

  • Interior Staining

A door, a beam or a stair rail stained a new colour to stand out.

  • Exterior & Interior Varnishing

Clear coats that bring out the grain of the wood and protect it.

  • Trim & Door Enamel

A hard, glossy enamel for trim and doors that wipes clean.

  • Cabinet Refinishing

Cabinets painted or stained for a new-looking kitchen without new cabinets.

  • Deck Finishing

Boards repaired where needed, then stained or sealed against the sun.

  • Fence Staining

A faded, dried-out fence stained back to an even colour.

  • Epoxy Floor Coating

Garage floors that shrug off oil, heat and scuffs.

  • Wood Restoration

Rot, splits and rusted hardware dealt with before the wood is refinished.

  • Ask us about

    Limewash walls

A mineral paint brushed on in overlapping strokes, so the colour dries soft and cloudy with a chalky depth that flat paint can't give you. It looks best on stucco, brick and a single feature wall, inside or out, in a shade you pick from a sample board.

Problems we fix

Repairs before the paint

Cracked stucco, holes in the drywall, a popcorn ceiling, a leak or a fire. We fix the wall, then we paint it.

Insurance Claim Repairs

A claim is stressful enough. The repairs shouldn't add to it.

We handle the drywall, stucco and fire and water damage repairs to the standard your insurer expects, and we work alongside the other trades on the job so the repairs come together in the right order.

Talk to Ray about your claim

Stucco Repair

Cracks and crumbling patches filled, then matched to the old stucco in texture and colour.

Drywall Repair & Texturing

Popcorn Ceiling Removal

Old acoustic ceilings scraped down and refinished smooth or textured.

Fire & Water Damage Repair

Damaged material cut out, the rest of the house protected, then rebuilt and painted.

Wallpaper Removal

Stripped the right way for the paper you have, and the wall prepped for paint.

Graffiti Cover-Up

Tagged walls and block fences painted back to clean.

The family

A father's business, now the son's

“…my dad started this company in 1988. I was sanding trim on his jobs before I could drive, and I still run every job the way he taught me.”

Ray Kittredge, owner

Kittredge Family Painting is family owned and run. Ray grew up on his dad's job sites and took over the business in 2011.

He picks every painter on the crew himself, and they work in your home or business the way they'd want someone to work in theirs.

How we work

Five steps, every job

Every job starts with a free written estimate, and that number doesn't change. At the end we walk the whole job with you, and every job carries our satisfaction guarantee.

  1. 1

    Wash

The walls are pressure washed or hand washed, whichever your estimate calls for, to lift dust and chalky old paint.

  2. 2

    Prep

Loose paint is scraped, shiny spots are sanded dull, and every gap is caulked so water stays out.

  3. 3

    Paint

Patched areas get primer, then a premium paint goes on to an even, uniform finish.

  4. 4

    Clean

We clean up at the end of every day and again when the job is done. Chips swept, materials packed away.

  5. 5

    Walkthrough

We check the job ourselves, then walk it with you and leave a feedback card for the crew.

A few of them:

Ray came out on a Tuesday to look at the house and gave us a written price that afternoon. The crew started the next Monday and had the whole exterior done by Friday, trim and all. The price on the estimate was the price on the invoice, not a dollar more. They covered every plant and the pool equipment, cleaned up every evening, and walked the whole house with me at the end to touch up the two spots I pointed out.

We had the stucco cracks around our garage fixed and the whole house repainted. You honestly can't tell where the patches were. Ray answers his phone and shows up when he says he will. The crew was polite, quick, and kept our driveway spotless.

Third time using Kittredge. They did our rental, our shop and now our own house. Fair price, honest advice about which paint will hold up in the desert sun, and they don't cut corners on the prep. The trim looks better than when it was new.

They painted four rooms and the hallway while we were at work. Everything was back in place when we got home. Clean lines, no drips, great crew.

Popcorn ceilings gone, walls textured and painted in one week. They covered every inch of the floor. Highly recommend.

Quick estimate, fair price. I'd hire them again.
